Despite the typos that crept back into chapter 1, I got some more good feedback on it. Some folks even said I should start sending it out to agents. That's encouraging. It's also a big old mess of uncertainty. I guess I need to start subscribing to Publisher's Lunch and start researching agents. I was planning on doing that after World Fantasy, but maybe I shouldn't wait. It couldn't hurt to send it out. Might be good practice, if nothing else.
I'm wondering if enough happens in this chapter. We get a little breather, the aftermath of the combat, Jael using magic, Jael and Jacob getting angry at Balt, the reluctant decision to travel together. Hmm, when I put it down like that, it feels like enough happens. I'm still thinking about how I can tighten it up, though. I guess I'll see what readers think.
