I'm a backer of Jonathon Burgess. We met at Dave Wolverton's 'Write That Novel' workshop earlier this year. He's writing a new epistolary story at http://aetherwrought.com/. It's a Steampunk setting but so far it feels very 19th century England, which is cool. The steampunk elements so far are limited to the scribing device the main character is using fro his journal. It has some sly wit and a whole world to explore. Check it out.
I got some good feedback on the third draft of Chapter 2, HOWEVER, some of the last-minute edits did not get proofread and some very embarrassing typos appeared. I swear, if I modify one sentence there's a better-than-average chance two typos crept in. I need to make extra sure to do a full read-aloud pass before I post anything. Typos really can undercut the quality of a piece. And I think Chapter 2 is a lot better for the 3rd revision draft.
Now, I just need to make time to revise Chapter 6 and post it up for commentary. Should have done that Saturday or Sunday but...
