Well, I’ll save the retrospective for later. I am trying my hand at flash fiction and it is very hard for me to tell a story in less than a thousand words. About 2k words seems to be my limit for stories that satisfy me. 5k feels more natural. But this month has been a good one for stretching my boundaries, I’m glad I did this. Who know, I may even get some sales out of the stuff that popped out of head.
Next week I start my final revision of Angel Odyssey. I’m going to take all the feedback I’ve gotten, review it, weight it and then get to writing. There are some things I want to change and some areas that I want to improve. But I can’t please everybody. I’ve gotten enough conflicting advice to realize that. So we go back to what I said from the beginning: I want to write stories that I’d want to read.
Next month is also the start of my new novel, which I’m looking forward to and NOT letting myself get intimidated by. It is easy to let self-criticism and doubt beat me down. I have to fight back hard against it, I suppose all writers do. The important thing is to keep learning and keep going. Forward momentum!
