OOF. Tonight is critique night, I have many, many stories to read over and put my $.02 in. I was really hoping to get more done this week, short story-wise. I got a few more pages done on my latest story but I have to say the bus writing isn’t the best thing in the world. It IS great for jotting down ideas and snippets of dialogs and scenes. So there is some value there. However writing a full story just isn’t happening. The bus just moves around too much. I need the kind of stability a desk or the Throne of Writing™ provides.
So I may purchase a netbook but it will be strictly for notetaking purposes. Ah well. This gives me time to read, I guess. I picked up some wonderful Modern Library volumes of Raymond Chandler’s work. I can’t recommend these books enough. Not only are the stories amazing but the Modern Library books are well-bound and sturdy. I hope to keep these forever.
If I get lucky, I’ll do some story writing tonight but I’m not so sure. We’re also getting a new cat tonight (a Maine Coon) so that will take up part of the night, if not more, I’m sure. Ah well, the month’s only half over. I am not so far behind that I cannot catch up.
