The next day, I had an idea for a new story, involving androids (written as a reaction to the crapping acting/writing in Prometheus). So I wrote that instead of finishing my story started on Friday. Sunday, more of the same. Wrote an erotic horror story, then got distracted by nice weather. I wrote a little over 12k words in those two days but didn’t write the words that would finish the story I’d started.
I finally put an ending on it today. So, a little behind but not disasterously, if I can write and finish a story after work tonight.
What am I learning?
Well, again, writing what is fun for me makes the hours slip past. Sticking with a story because I started it sucks. But time will tell if those stories are easier to revise than the ‘fun’ ones. Forcing an ending doesn’t feel good but I’m doing it as part of the terms of this challenge. (Every story gets an ending) The time limits, one story a day, means I’m writing stories that don’t have time for the kind of character development I like*.
Still, we keep going.
Next up, an epic rant against the crappy writing in Prometheus. :)
*Same problem Prometheus has, the difference is, I spending 3 hours on my stories, I’m assuming they spent at least…six or so on their multi-million dollar movie.
