Only a few pages done last night. I did some research on low-tech sheep slaughtering and outlined that for Chapter 31. I also wrote a scene where Jacob takes the shepherds down to the kitchen and deals with some bullying. A small scene but one that shows some growth for Jacob compared to how he was at the beginning of the book.
I'm increasingly convinced that Chapter 30 is going need to be longer and that Jacob is going to spend more time at the castle, chapter-wise, than I'd planned. I was aiming for 36 chapters but it looks like I'm going to overflow that. Ah well, the story is as long as it needs to be. Hopefully I don't have too much filler in it but I'll have to wait to get feedback and do re-reads to be sure about that.
Work is keeping me late which also means horrible hour to an hour and a half commutes home. By the time I've decompressed, it's damn near time for bed. So I'm not getting as much work done as I'd like. Still, I'm moving forward, that's the important thing. I wonder how it's going to read to other people. Chapter 31 is the first time we've had Jacob's POV in two chapters back-to-back. I thought about switching to Jael, and I still might, but I'm going to leave it like this and see how it reads.
