Believe it or not, I'm still toying with what the Great Eyrie should look like. My first thought was 'grand and magnificent'. Then I considered a mostly-subterranean network of tunnels with just a few sturdy buildings. I'm not sure what I'll go with. A vast mansion would be more impressive but humbler accommodation might signal that the life of a Rider is not as glamorous as Jacob thought it would be. That's a theme I have planned for the second book. Or maybe the view is magnificent but the rest of it is spartan.
No matter what, this should be a cathartic chapter. Glory and honor and fame for Jacob. Healing and a return to her family for Jael. But behind that, the sadness of two people who love each other, parting.
