I got out of work on time for once instead of being late. So I had the luxury of time yesterday. I finished chapter 31 and added some more content to chapter 30. We'll see how they read on re-read. It looks like Jacob is going to spend one more chapter in the castle and his way of getting out may be a lot easier than I had anticipated. Plots are funny like that. Once you get into a situation, sometimes the way out is obvious when you step back and look at the situation dispassionately. It's the five-year-old child test. (Rule 12 on the Evil Overlord list http://www.eviloverlord.com/lists/overlord.html ) Sometimes the solution is obvious, you just need to think like a five year old. So I think I/Jacob know how to get past the walls of the castle without getting shot.
I know I just finished one deadline but I'm making another one. I'm going to the World Fantasy convention, it's in Columbus, OH this year. I want to have Angel Odyssey in shape to actually hand to an editor or agent by then. So, the novel must be in submittable form by October 25th. That's my new deadline. I was planning on taking a break for a few months, write some short stories, but I'm not sure I'll have time for that. We'll see, I think I can safely spend the rest of July finishing Angel Odyssey and trying my hand at some publishable short fiction but after that, I'm going to have to start revising.
