The Cloud City Wordslingers will be meeting each Saturday to write together and encourage each other. I know writing alongside some of these talented writers is a serious spur to write faster and write better.
Not a great batting record for blogging, eh? Ah well, I'm hoping November will be more productive in several senses of the word.
October wasn't bad for sending work out. No acceptances (yet) but I have a few stories outstanding and I'm glad I tried, even for the rejections. New content has been slower. I haven't been getting enough Throne of Writing(tm) time this month. I blame video games and my own weakness for them. That's something I have to battle with as much as my love of Pepsi...which is also not good for me. I did get a bolt of lightning, can't sleep, gotta write moment just recently. I ended up banging out 21 pages of a new roleplaying game inspired by the old Amber Diceless RPG. The words and creativity just flowed out of me and when I was done I felt...empty. Drained. Depressed. And that's before my friends reviewed it and said they weren't interested. I don't know what it is. Sometimes, when you pour your whole self into a writing project it feels like there's nothing left. The rejection piled on top of that...it can be hard to take. I guess this is when you pull on your big boy pants and keep going. In that vein, I'm going to be doing NaNoWriMo this month. Sort of. My goal is to finish the first draft of Smooth Vengeance, which I damn near finished half of back in March at the Rainforest Writer's Retreat. (Damn that was fun) I got about 49k words written then, though I was a lot more focused there. This time I'm not trying to race wordcount or anything but I'm going to be spending my spare time and then some getting writing work done. The Cloud City Wordslingers will be meeting each Saturday to write together and encourage each other. I know writing alongside some of these talented writers is a serious spur to write faster and write better. I'm also going to try to update this each day I write. I'll be in Vegas the 2nd to the 5th, so don't expect much until then but....we'll keep trying. That's what writers do, keep trying and keep believing in your visions. Just don't listen tot
