I took two more stabs at synopsis writing last night. The problem is, I'm not sure what my goal here is for Norwescon. I'm not clear what they want as the links they provide point to very different synopsis--sss (synopsi?).
Every time I try the detailed synopsis, I go way over 1000 words, so I tried an expanded 'back cover' synopsis. You know the back cover of paperbacks where they try to get you to read/buy the book? (though occasionally those lie or are wrong enough that I doubt the person writing it ever read the book) Anyway, I wrote a 'hooky' synopsis and now I'll just have to decide if I want to send the long, boring 1000 word synopsis or the short, hooky one.
When in doubt, go for the hook.
I also got a bit more work on chapter 2 done. Oy, I'm tired of going over the first chapters of the book. SO MUCH of the novel needs my attention but here I am digging and sculpting and rearranging the first hundred pages. I wonder if every writer does this or just us unpublished folks?
